The rocks were big. Early runners were spared the rain. Later runs caught a bit of a deluge, leading to some slipperiness. Thank goodness Gary Kraght brought those map cases!
Richard Thorsted treated us to some adventuresome courses on our new map of Browns Valley in Vacaville. All the courses shared a summit control with a grand vista.
Results were produced by Jay Hann of Western Race Services, including adjustments to account for some checkpoint timing issues (sync needed) and a checkpoint that was replaced that some earlier runners were not able to find.
And it was Tapio’s birthday! When I get home, I will be able to send him the files he needs for RouteGadget, so have your routes ready! Thanks Tapio and Mari for the birthday cake. And we sang.

Richard Thorsted did a lot of work scouting the trails and terrain for checkpoints, and put together a fine course-setting debut. In addition, he helped with Control Pickup and Finishes, was present throughout the event to interact with participants, and helped set up the Start and Finish, too.
Kevin Hinkley and Terri Hunt couldn't do a course because of injury, but they stayed the whole event, helping with Setup, Starts, Finishes, a bit of Control Pickup, and Takedown. They really did the heavy lifting for this event!
Nick Corsano did a Start shift and a big chunk of Control Pickup.
Sarah Williams grew up somewhat in Vacaville, and told us many stories about the Costco being the cross country course site and about the rivalry with the Davis cross country team. She also did Registration, and gave out White and Yellow maps to the participants on those courses.
Sheila Cotter also helped with Registration, and Setup.
Gordon Bloom helped with Setup.
Steve Haas relieved the first Registration team.
Chuck Spalding did a Start shift and also a lot of web magic leading up to the event.
George Minarik gave testimonials on how to orienteer, called Beginner Clinics.
Jeff Lanam did a Starts shift. It got "kinda wet" during his shift.
Andrejus Masalkov grabbed a big section of checkpoints for us during Control Pickup.
Nicholas Goldowsky-Dill & Patrick Carvalho got the middle section of checkpoints and the water stop for Control Pickup.
