We had another (19th) fine Scout Orienteering Championships and B-Meet at Briones. The weather was great, sunny and mild. There had been some rain earlier in the week, so the ground was a tad softer underfoot and the thorns were a teeny tad softer — overall pretty good conditions. The terrain was, however, typical of Briones — steep, stickery, rough, tough, and PO-ed. Nevertheless, folks appear to have had some fun, and all went rather smoothly.
For those who are curious, we had about 625 scouts registered, and assuming about 100 BAOC participants, we had well over 700 folks altogether. The usual chaos followed the crowd from parking to registration and clinics, to the crazy long-line Start, through the courses, to e-punch, food, and eventually results. It's impressive how our great volunteers were able to handle the crowds. The scouts had plenty of fun, by all accounts.
